Tessa Kuijl talked about integration of climate change into strategic asset allocation. The webinar was organized by the ALM committee and Responsible Investment committee from CFA Society Netherlands.

Tessa Kuijl shared best practises on the integration of Climate Change into Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) decisions for asset owners. Tessa addressed the following questions: “How robust is your SAA for different global warming scenarios?”, “What are the main climate risk drivers per asset class/scenario?” and “How to improve the robustness?” Tessa explained that climate scenario analysis plays an important role addressing these challenges.

Key takeaways from here contribution are:

  • Climate change is uncertain, therefore it is important to analyze multiple global warming scenarios in your SAA process
  • Scenario analysis requires the integration of dedicated transition- and physical- climate risks models into traditional SAA tools
  • Climate change puts more focus on the regional and sector dimension.
Tessa and the other speakers at this seminar covered the topic from multiple relevant perspectives: the impact of climate change on capital markets, carbon pricing, scenario analysis and practical examples for LDI Funds and Mix Funds.
