Sophie Heald

As Senior Climate Specialist within the Climate & ESG Solutions team, Sophie is primarily responsible for the ongoing research and integration of economic and financial risks to the Ortec Finance Climate Scenarios within the ClimateMAPS - climate scenario analysis solution. She leads the ongoing updates to Ortec Finance’s proprietary climate scenarios and interactive Climate Scenario Explorer, ensuring they reflect the latest updates to low carbon policies, emissions and technology uptake as well as variations in global temperatures and weather patterns.

Sophie has over 12 years' experience in energy economics and modelling. Before joining Ortec Finance, she led the Modelling Team at Cambridge Econometrics, where she developed the global economy, energy system and environment ‘E3ME’ model, a key component of ClimateMAPS. Her career has been mainly focused on policy impact assessment and analysis for national governments, international institutions and the European Commission. She has delivered training courses in energy-economy modelling for the UNFCCC and the World Bank. 

Sophie holds a Bachelor of Science majoring in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Bristol.
