What will you do as Oracle DBA?

Ortec Finance develops and hosts applications for pension funds, asset managers, banks, housing associations and municipalities to help them in financial decision-making. We sell and support these solutions around the globe. Within Ortec Finance, the Investment Performance (IP) solution is centred around the development, implementation, and support of our PEARL software product. Our solution enables our clients to analyse and report on the performance of investment portfolios. Together with your colleagues from the Engineering teams, you are responsible for the database services of Investment Performance. You manage the Oracle databases and provide our Business and Engineering teams with database support and advice.

The Engineering teams are part of the Investment Performance solution, which consists of twenty IT specialists and engineers who develop, maintain, run, and upgrade the PEARL product. The teams work according to agile scrum methodology in sprints. Experience with this method is therefore a big plus.

You work with many different (cloud) techniques to offer the demanding customers of Ortec Finance the best in terms of performance, continuity, and security.

Your activities and responsibilities include:

• Installing, managing, and monitoring Oracle databases
• Assisting in tasks on the cloud journey of the databases
• Administration of Oracle Enterprise Manager
• Backup and restoring with RMAN
• Disaster recovery with Data Guard
• Performance monitoring and tuning
• Managing and linking with hosted web applications
• Facilitating test environments for Business and Development departments
• Advice to client teams and engineers regarding database matters
• Scripting (bash shell).

Who are you?

Are you our future colleague who:

• Has a bachelor's degree in computer science or similar field
• Is analytic, accurate, pro-active, independent and result oriented
• Feels responsible for the database stack and associated solutions
• Has 5 to 10 years' work experience as an Oracle DBA
• Has extensive knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle Data Guard, Advanced Compression and Advanced Security
• Is a real team player

Our databases currently run on our own servers, but we are investigating how we will migrate our databases to the cloud. In addition to managing Oracle databases, Ortec Finance brings you into contact with patch automation, Redhat Openshift, Microsoft Azure, Oracle WebLogic / Fusion MiddleWare, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Puppet and Docker. Experience with these products is a plus, as is experience with Public Cloud services from Azure.
